Look how narrow overall it is for its 45′ length. Only 14.4′. It looks like a powercat designed by guys who were chopper-gunning truck bed covers just a few years ago. Not only do the sum of the hull widths look like they are about half the beam overall, it has planing speedboat bows for displacement boat speeds. No wonder it took twice 225 hp to go 20 knots! A 45′ cat that I or Roger (Hatfield) or even Gino would design would do that 20 knots with about 80 hp per side. Certainly not over 100 hp per side.

I just got a first picture of Paul’s KHSD 45 catamaran being built on Prince Edward Island. Paint job looks great from what I can see. Isn’t like almost arctic there?

new printer should arrive next week, a Canon iPF765. It seems that it has a screen that carries on discussions with one… “I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave…” It might take a couple of days to sort out how to run it. One issue is it will not accept any input from LPT1. I do have a few thousand legacy Generic CADD files (still best 2D CADD program ever developed). Does JD or anyone have any thoughts on getting LPT1 files into USB? Only thought I have is to stop them off at Visual Cadd on the way, then plot from there on USB.

I got to visit Alex’s 45′ KHSD catamaran as it was being primed. Notice the holder for the mast bearings. It will have aeroesque unstayed carbon fiber mast. No smell at all from the paint being sprayed. I understand it will be pushed out the door as soon as the topcoat goes on. Should be much better pictures then. Notice also the stanchion bases. Very nice.
