Senior moment! I switched to PRE-MADE aviation grade a long time ago. I don’t miss the real life emergency steering, the hand cuts etc (deception runs deep with marine grade). The price is about the same or cheaper. I do highly recommend it for cable steering. I use it everywhere: halliards, lifelines, davits etc.
I would prefer an interactive graphic. After setting needs (max-min diameters, weight etc, UV and salt exposure etc), it would give you different graphs with typical braids, weaves and maintenance.
For most people all will do the job with proper maintenance. Price/Availability is a big factor!
I do speak French to some degree.
