I’ve been away a lot taking advantage of the rare sunny days in Seattle to get the lunar lander done. When in I seem to be doing plans support and trying to keep up with drawings needed. Blog has suffered. Will be in more next week.

Here are just two of my dozen pictures of the rotating, unstayed mast on Alex’s 45′ cat building up in Bellingham. Jim Betts did the mast construction. I did the design, with FEA help.  More pictures soon. In the first see the mast and balestrom, as well as crane lines.  Second is closer to the carbon mast at the bearing area.  See the splines that the balestrom slides onto.  I hear launch is soon.

Job for today was to render the design new ama bows for the KHSD 46 trimaran Faamu Sami. First a comparison study was done overlaying the old and new on a 3D model.

I forgot to mention that I spent a couple of days away in the desert working on the lunar lander project. www.themarsoutpost.com. Recall it is a low impact tiny house built with boat building materials and techniques.
Latest, the lower floor bits bonded together with epoxy finally. Resting on main floor for now.  It will be inserted into the white bit behind it.  I do have to scramble a bit for the next month or two to stay ahead of the UV.  It has to get to primer as soon as possible.

Last week I got to visit Alex’s 45′ KHSD catamaran up in Bellingham again. Alex always has useful tips on products. I will be posting pictures from the trip shortly. Among many things that boatbuilders might use, I found pallet covers on page 133. They are basically vacuum bags with only one side open. Only up to 5′ by 5′ or on the next page, 3-1/2′ by 12′ as sofa covers. Would speed up bagging small parts.

I just got the first pictures of my latest catamaran project in China. A 40′ performance cat. Foam/glass. My first to the CCS rule there.

Courage Winter and his family are cruising in Costa Rica on the stretched KHSD 53′  catamaran known previously as Jack’s Old Boat.  What a great school for kids.
