  1. .

All new boats are competitive when you compare them with outdated designs. .

Every thing I have mention is still on the development horizons / being developed now and rapidly developing for future designs at this present point on time.

Foils all forms – retractable with combinations not just a single design or foil they are going to give a vessel the winning edge.

A turbo charged car will on most occasions beat a non turbo charged car with the same hp rating, gear ratio aero dynamics and foils.

Remember these are very early days so things are going to get better and faster all the time!

The virtual flying technology will support the vital link between sailors and designers, creating an important feed mechanism between the two core parts for performance analysis. It will also provide an equally important data base info for the design optimisation processes.

Every time a design has a foiling boat to obtain additional data / obtained directly or shared something new will be learned that can be used to improve it, the boat, the sailors and the more that is learned / used the more it will become one of the most vital designers crew tools.

Designers for ocean racing / cruisers trimarans will one day have alliances with the specialist foiling/ tank testing data specialists, structural analysis experts and other experts especially if they belong to the same yacht and golf clubs. If they don’t have the data – skills – knowledge – know how – or computer programmes.

It is possible the organisations that have these tools will perhaps, to gain revenue sell the data / their services to lesser non threatening mere mortals.

Daring designs and innovation are always rewarded.

T-foil rudders have been proved hugely advantages and there is considerable more room to advance them even further.

The system of lifting surfaces clearly have been proved and the rudders have survived heavy weather and pollution debris. Races have proved the validity and the reliability re T foil Rudders sailing with rough weather and other weather conditions for entire long sailing periods.

The T-foil rudders create an unquestionable turbo effect at certain points of sail. The addition re such a system also has appeal re safety as they produce increased stability, which allows helmsman to push hard in breezy conditions without putting a vessel and crew in danger.

    A quote I observed.

“:The future might be foiling for a few wealthy individuals for everyone else we will do what is practical and affordable.”

Pleased people agree the future is with foiling trimarans.

Did not get excited re the gun boat G4 except it foiled on there first test run. I can think about 10 or more reasons why I would not like to own or sail on that configuration as is. First Race it capsized.

Not every person is on a low or moderate wage and yes some can service a boat loan instead of a house loan some have other avenues and joint ownership is on the rise and has been for years. E.G four individuals or more can pool their resources for a project and others with lateral thinking can arrange sponsorship funding.

    AGAIN

Remember these are very early days so this thing is only going to get better and faster all the time !

  3. What work?

Offered yes I have with respect / I sent you a copy of my application which automatically gives the preferred designer status as first option and how can I offer to pay for or study plans when you stall at giving a price and declaring to prospective interested clients what stage you / the plans with details are at or how much……

You don’t buy here, my spot, on this planet “Cart Blanch” and blindly.

    What’s the Problem.

  4. So at what stage are u at and how much did he owe.

How much to advance to other stages with a wider beam and larger sail plan as U have written the other stages as a bad debt. Parties can’t be interested unless they know the costs to advance and advancing from where?

Surely this is a reasonable request as all your other designs are old some 20 years and the interest is with modern advanced concepts since 20 years ago.

The revision stages that you did are they worth showing. They must be. They can only stimulate more interest and desire with your new modern design that the other designers are following suit aiming I guess at your potential prospects. Your advanced experience to date with flared amass main hull design puts you at the moment [ for how long ? ] ahead.

With respect again how long has the same design, your feature design Trimaran, been on that page.

The above design created huge interest carrying on from the 71ft design but where are they now.

Raise prices / Study plans only I guess not to cover your bad debts.

What was his name I’ll chase him along for u.? Usual debt collectors commission applies.

Your Quote = but you have never paid a cent for work nor offered to

    1. I will work with customer on ’79 in my own way. Now going after GEORGE ANAGNOSTOU, that would be something.
If you are serious I will put together a proposal for you.

  5. How can They be funded untill people know what stage the design is at. Southern hem designer is going to capitalise where you can’t carry on.

    1. again you do not understand deadlines and how tight it is at a design office. and again, you a self proclaimed very successful, so I assume wealthy, businessman has jobs for me to do but you have never paid a cent for work nor offered to.

  6. How does the tend line analysis match along compared to the 71 foot design.

With a larger rig more sail area what beam would be required with the new weight to have a hull lifting wind speed analysis 48 mph wind speed and a stability index 8.4 and a Bruce number 2.1

    http://www.multihulldynamics.com/news_article.asp?articleID=116

any advancement since your previous foiling design. I noticed some time ago you for awhile had a foiling pic for the 40 foot design on the multihull studio pages..

The revision stages are probably valueless to other prospective parties as they are not necessary their requirements.

How about a new picture under the old for comparisons above and post as the latest pages to your blog.

  8. So what you are saying your designs never get constructed commercially and never have. I’m not thinking boat dealer boats I’m thinking your designs. So are you also saying you never design a yacht, boat, ferry catamarans with no consideration to commercial production costs and they have never told you the costs when your designs have been built commercially. I don’t believe that as you state you are a expert when interpreting the usa coast guard construction regs and commercial rules Surely if you asked a commercial boat manufacturer like

    http://www.mcconaghyboats.com/china-facilities.html
    http://www.mcconaghyboats.com/australian-capabilities.html

All customer contracts are with the Sydney or Hong Kong companies.

or other European composite builders for an approximate construction costs figures for in return their hyperlinks placed on your website on your top headings line for your intended design purchases
as a helpful service by yourself, would not cost your design office anything or any great inconvenience.

You would probably find more interests re your next designs 79 ft 84 ft 89 ft. and above 71 ft designs trimarans and nullify a general accepted complaint on websites forums world wide that you are not very helpful with information re building your designs.

    oc

    1. If I may, I don’t think you know what you are talking about. You think it is all right to have a boatyard produce a construction price study not for a build, but for a tire-kickers amusement? How much time do you think an accurate price projection takes? And you think the builder should absorb that cost for you? For months you have been sending me lists of things that I should be doing for you. This is one more? You told me that you are, was it “an extremely successful businessman.” A successful businessman doesn’t hound designers or boatyards to do free work for him. He throws down a ten or twenty spot and says “make it so’.
And, I spend most of my time on plans support. Few other designers have put together construction DVD, constantly updated construction manuals, and full plans support. I think I can say that no builder of KHSD boats who has paid for the work has complaints about the plans support. Again, I don’t think you know what you are talking about.

    1. you are thinking boat dealer boats. Customers never retain me to decide cost. in fact on the 79 it seems the customer has skipped out. Ready for next way point and he has vanished and no emails returned.

  9. You will not have the problem you say you have placing on your web site a reciprocal links if you paste the html script as per my previous e-mails.

Can you please fully explain re your funding statement that you made.

  10. Have not received a e-mail re the problem you say you have placing on your web site a reciprocal links as per my previous e-mails and postings.

Can you please fully explain re your funding statement. Your other posting I can’t understand what you are trying to say as they don’t seem to be straight answers and complicated designers language.

Another on your statements state you have study plans but can’t find them available on your website with your other study plans. Plus Marks galley design preview you said would be available for preview once designed..

I look forward to your reply.

    Thanks

I look forward to your reply

    1. Both Matthew and I seem to be out a lot this early summer. Kind of triage keeping up with everybody building. Mark seems to have vanished so am completing the design on my own. The way to get study plans for this is to order one for anything and let me know it was you. I can email to you then.

    1. An illuminating question. Back in the old days of hand drawings, ownership of drawings could easily be declared and determined. Now, with CADD, spreadsheets, and FEA studies, it is much harder. For example, a set of hull lines is often parametric with a very fair basic hull to work with. On a main hull like the 75’/79′ is will have 15 splines in each direction, all of which must be faired to each other. That is often hours and hours. With a parametric hull, that is done already.
A CADD drawing typically consists of assemblies of drawings that exist in designer’s library. Nobody does CADD drawing fresh every time, you assemble as many components as you can to create a drawing. So if a customer wanted to declare that he owned the design, that would imply that he also owns the assemblies that were there before he even thought about the project. That would suggest a wall built between existing assemblies and the new drawing. That would be very costly.
Probably a more useful direction would be ownership of a Look and Feel. If the project is properly funded, I expect most designers would be very accomadating on plans ownership.

  11. It would be great to have protected dual steering positions on the aft crossbeams just before the dip to floats in platform pods, wider beam 80ft, extending forward with the main sheet traveller having more curve and a cockpit coachroof. Plus curved dagger partial foiling boards and the main hull having bow retractable lifting foils for fast running storm sailing to prevent pitch polling. probably need t foil rudders on the float rudders and on course trim tab on the centre case board.

What is your estimated cost to build including designers fees, specialist designers advice / design for the foils and bow skimming retractable foils, tank testing,

    OC

I look forward to your reply.

    1. you did mention these before. and my question, critical one, was do you intend to use the same hulls or same but slightly longer? this is key to design cost. until what it is is made clear, impossible to say how much work is needed from me.

  12. Links posting would be appreciated.

Storm cruiser has some interesting questions worth answering as well.

    Quote
“Is Interior plan , sail plan and specs must be close with payload weight, weight before payload weight, displacement, weight, mast height, sinkage, wetted area, max main hull beam, main hull beam water line, motor size, top sailing speed, cruising speed, and top motor speed, winches positions, stanchions, duel helms on beams.

The above design interior plan would be nice to view both levels as can’t tell from the 71ft design re where the galley is and chart table. On lower level or lounge upper level.

Did Mark choose to have the chart table on the upper level centre space between the two lounge areas.

The galley would it not be preferable to have as far aft as possible near the engine room because that’s probably where the deep freezers will located and where the galley is have 4 single pipe berths as additional which also could be used as the sail locker. A dumb waiter could be also included to send the cuisine up stairs.

    2. to have the least vibration possible at high speeds 16 knots or more because where it is located at the moment it would be almost be impossible to cook – use at speeds 16 knots or greater I ‘m predicting.

Had experience on a Chris white tri 66 ft and the same section was almost impossible to stand unless one braced themselves Had to reduce speed to 12 knots to use the head in the forward compartment forward of forward crossbeam.

    Up date would be appreciated.

It really would be interesting. A design that is designed from experience.”

    unquote.
If you receive the plans, notice of same should be advised.

  13. Links posting would be appreciated.

Have you asked that guy to return your plans. If he has not, post his e-mail address so supporters can send him messages to do so. And the name of his country and his personal name so captains know not to accept him as crew and if he ever builds the boat crew will know not to sail with him as he is not to be trusted if he has not paid and has not returned the plans as you say.

If you receive the plans, notice of same should be advised.

  15. Well there is no other designer at the moment in this market except the Australian designer Tony Grainger who has just posted new designs in the development stage for the rocket 42 and 52 foot designs but no where the accommodation as yours or cockpit area or with the Aesthetics as yours. I suspect he is testing the market in the southern hemisphere or is in agreement, taking steps to protect this developing potential market and offering an alternative. I think there is a market for partial foiling
[ windward ] and full foiling skimming [ broad reaching and running ] cruiser racer sailing trimarans. The barriers are no longer there. As they say first in first served. Aesthetics and the additional interior room, coach roof, dual helms protected, with a canting mast would probably be the southern hemisphere customers choice once they see something.

Have you defined the problem with the reciprocal links as yet.

    OC

    1. dude. am so backed up with rush work that links are not even on my radar. some time when it is calm. you may not realize design office never has enough money to keep up and more rush work than can handle. future.

  16. Hello Kurt,

    Is
Interior plan , sail plan and specs must be close with payload weight, weight before payload weight, displacement, weight, mast height, sinkage, wetted area, max main hull beam, main hull beam water line, motor size, top sailing speed, cruising speed, and top motor speed, winches positions, stanchions, duel helm..

  17. Re above Quote June 21, 2013 at 5:49 pm

Stormsurf.Iits still being revised as we talk. Your choices might not be Mark’s.

  18. Not if it had foiling curved dagger boards and foil rudders. The number of stock designs now going curved dagger boards is a natural follow on from the americas cup. Gun boat Chater catamarans boats are one designer that comes to mind. What happened to the chappie you where designing for – galley – interior ect. You stated he had different requirements to mine. Remember. I wanted Dual helms – coach roof – bow thruster – Cat Zero ISAF REGS safety requirements. Maximum beam. Maximum sail area for light weather sailing say 3-4 knots wind speed. Can it be built tank tested foil designer expert under 9m dollars complete all fully equipped.

    1. I’ve had my head down trying to keep up with workload. Remind me again what you would like me to do? Work should lighten up after mid November.

  19. Interior plan , sail plan and specs must be close with weight, mast height, motor size, top sailing speed and top motor speed, winches positions, stanchions, payload, and displacement load must be close.

    Up date When?

    1. working on the core and laminate design now. have not had time to make it a stock plan. not sure if it will get there. pretty niche market I’m sure.

  20. Sail plan Main, Jib, and Gennaker?

Would have thought, provision for large pointing to windward genoa would be in order for under 6 knots hard on the wind pointing abilities and speed.

I would have thought a 80 footer would be cutter rig to suit all sailing regions worldwide with a longer bow sprit or no bow sprit and longer bow mass bow hulls for ocean storm sailing. Southern hemisphere winds over 36 knot Cassification = a Storm.

Is the bow sprit retractable for marina berthing. Southern hemisphere marinas charge per over all lenght and bow sprits are not allowed to protude on to the marina finger area or the marina stern boundry waterway path.

In wet regions and strong winds a hard coach roof is required with dual helms and pedastal winches.

A higher boom height for hard coach roof would it require rebalancing the sail plan
Electric winches sizes are they available for this size vessel?

Is there a Anchore locker, samson post and electric anchore winch provision?
